Dr. Gilda Gely appointed Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

Cambridge College is pleased to announce that Dr. Gilda Gely has been appointed Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Since July 2017, Dr. Gely has held the position of Interim Provost. During this time, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership in overseeing and advancing critical initiatives for the college overall and specifically under the Office of Academic Affairs and in close collaboration with her team, including development of the Academic Master Plan; design and development of proposed and new academic degrees, concentrations and programs; and advancing our partnerships with other educational institutions, including community colleges and public school systems.  She has also retained a keen focus on our ongoing work in student success, learning outcomes and preparation for ongoing external reviews.    

Dr. Gely joined Cambridge College in June of 2016 as our Associate Provost.  Prior to joining Cambridge College, Dr. Gely served as executive vice president and provost at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and as provost and executive vice president at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). Additionally, Dr. Gely served as interim dean of academic affairs at the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao, and has held positions as the vice chancellor and director of the languages department at the Universidad del Este, Carolina in Puerto Rico. During her career, she has focused on producing outcomes based on data driven results; instructional quality; program review, development and accreditation; student placement and assessment; and ensuring compliance with federal policies and expectations.  Dr. Gely earned a doctorate in Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s in Spanish from Middlebury College and a bachelor’s in radio/TV and Spanish from Kansas State University.
