Rethink the Workplace - The Virus is Human

Oct 16, 2020 - 1:00 PM

NEIB at Cambridge College

In this 30-minute presentation, Dr. Carla Patalano, NEIB DBA Program, MBA and MHRM Program Chair & Professor, will discuss how the global pandemic has impacted nearly every aspect of work and life. Hiring freezes, furloughs and pay cuts mean employees are doing more, often for less.  Humans are creatures of habit and our routines have been radically disrupted.  Acronyms like “WFH”, concepts like “Work Tourism” and “Zoom fatigue” have emerged as part of our “new normal.”  Pair these changes with having a larger percentage of remote workers and it should be no surprise that many employees feel a general sense of unease about safety, health and job security. Even as employees in many industries begin to return to work – at least for now – the underlying truth is that the workforce and the employee experience have been dramatically reconfigured.  Employees and employers alike have important roles in establishing a human-centered approach that promotes shared workforce resilience.
In this session participants will:

  • Discover the real, quantifiable human impact (both the good and the bad!) of the reconfigured workplace
  • Hear examples of best practices for restoring stability and protecting employee health and wellbeing
  • Identify strategies that can help companies (and those of us who work for them!) address the need for increased humanness
