About Tom Cahill

Tom CahillThomas (Tom) Cahill has an impressive professional background with over 30 years of experience in both advancement and finance. Tom’s background includes both higher education institutions and healthcare.

Before joining Cambridge College in 2019 as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Tom served as the Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts. There he led development strategy and all aspects of fundraising for a $10 million capital campaign for their new building and programs.  He was directly involved in all aspects of donor cultivation and gift solicitation.  He also oversaw other fundraising activities including fund raising events, securing gifts from the corporate community and securing a significant planned gift.

Prior to Lawrence General Hospital, Tom worked at Lahey Health, where during his tenure he played a major role in securing a $5 million gift from an individual donor to support the new Emergency Center.  He successfully secured foundation funding and enhanced Lahey’s annual road race fund raising event to increase the level of support raised through this event.

Tom has experience in the academic sector as well having worked at both Tufts University and the University of Pennsylvania.  While at Tufts University, he successfully raised a multimillion-dollar gift for the naming of a school as well as raising major support from corporate partners for alumn-based affinity programs.  While at the University of Pennsylvania, Tom successfully generated a one-million-dollar foundation gift to maintain their community nursing practice.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Suffolk University.
